FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What technique is used to perform the nose intervention?

There are two ways to perform the  nose intervention,  open and closed rhinoplasty. I use the open technique in 90% of cases, which has a small crack in the front of the nose.

I prefer this technique because I am more confident in the end result, and I find it easier to use Piezo and burrs.

2. Is there a nasal mark after surgery?

The healing depends on the person from their skin, but after a few months no marks, scars are noticed. The medical stiches are removed on the 10th day.

3. How long does the surgery last?

Surgery is not a standard procedure but depends on the case. It is usually 2 hours to 3 hours in difficult cases or revisions.

4. When does the healing of the nose end?

Nasal healing varies from patient to patient but usually 70% heals after 3 months, 80% after 6 months and 100% after 1 year and up to 2 years on thick skin.

There is usually no pain on nasal surgery, but in some cases patients may have pain which is relieved with simple sedatives.

The piezo method has an advantage compared to the classic method because it has less swelling and hematoma. Swellings are more frequent on day 2 and 3, while hematomas are rare. However it is an individual process that depends on the person.
On day 7 to 10 all Thursdays are normally gone.

With our technique where we use septal extension graft, tip fixation, tongue in grooge, we minimize the fall of the tip.

12. Will my nose need reoperation?

No surgeon in the world is 100% successful. Depending on the clinics and doctors the revision rate in the world ranges from 5-20% revisions can be minor or major.
In my practice I have a revision rate of 7-8% where most are minors.

13. Do you use photoshop stimulations
before surgery?

We use Photoshop to give the patient an idea of what the nose will be like and also to look after the patient’s requirements, but we don’t guarantee that this will be result at the end. The nose is an organ that depends on the skin, healing processes, etc. and we can never guarantee a preliminary result.
